Axie Infinity Plot Sells For a Record $2.48 Million

Axie Infinity is a play-to-earn game in which players collect and breed small creatures called Axies, pitting them into battle with each other to earn the in-game cryptocurrency called Smooth Love Potion (SLP).

Yesterday, an “extremely rare” piece of virtual land called “Genesis” plot in the game sold for 550 Ethereum. This translates to $2.48 Million.

Axie Infinity has become the most traded collection in Q3 2021 with over $2.5 Billion in trading volume.

Along similar lines, virtual real estate in the crypto-powered metaverse, Decentraland, sold for a record $2.43 Million. The land was bought by NFT-based virtual real estate company Metaverse Group for 618,000 MANA, the native cryptocurrency of Decentraland.

The virtual land will be developed to “facilitate fashion shows and commerce within the exploding digital fashion industry,” with Metaverse Group planning partnerships with “several existing fashion brands” to build out their metaverse e-commerce offerings.
