The Makers behind MetaMask are raising money at a $3Bn valuation
ConsenSys is a blockchain software technology company founded by Joseph Lubin, headquartered in Brooklyn, NY and has created widely used products such as Codefi and MetaMask which is used by more than 10 million users and has facilitated $9Bn worth of transactions. It is now raising money in a new round which values the company at $3Bn. The company has six products that serve three different types of people.
ConsenSys is playing an important role in bridging the gaps across traditional finance, centralized crypto, and DeFi, and more broadly, between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. Their products have become highly significant in the world where developers, enterprises and consumers meet blockchain and crypto.
In early 2020, the company has restructured itself into two divisions, one for software and the other for investments. It is now raising funds for its software division. This round comes just 6 months after the previous one! The incredible growth in the NFT space could be a positive factor.
In the initial round, the firm raised $65 million with investors including JPMorgan, UBS, Mastercard, Alameda Research and the Maker Foundation.
It’s ConsenSys’ view " every payment service provider will need this financial infrastructure in the future, especially for DeFI."
ConsesSys claims more than 150,000 developers use their product Infura’s APIs, and 4.5 million developers create and deploy smart contracts using Truffle.
