The rising empire of the Nouns DAO
The bluechip NFT project that's spreading its wings, everyone likes a Bitcoin prediction, Pinterest's latest play, the brewing trouble for Binance in the US and Visa's latest crypto move.
Hello y'all. This is The Token Dispatch, your daily crypto fill, handpicked from the deep, dark borrows of the blockchain world. Don't know if it is winter or summer or a season not known thus far. Who knows, eh? Dispatched wondering (then figuring out) why they always ask an Asian to take the photo.

💥 Nouns, a generative NFT art project on Ethereum, is taking the world by storm! From Super Bowl commercials to comic books and TV shows, Nouns is creating a buzz wherever it goes!
🔍 What are Nouns?
Nouns are 32x32 pixel characters that represent people, places, and objects. With an open-source code, anyone can build a Noun on the Playground section of nouns.wtf and then the Nouns are auctioned trustlessly every 24 hours by the Nouns Protocol.
💰 The Nouns DAO
Nouns is not just a collection of NFTs, but also a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) with a treasury of over 29,000 ETH ($45 million). Noun holders are members of the exclusive Nouns DAO, and their NFTs act as a membership pass.
🎬 Nouns on the Big Screen
Bud Light's Super Bowl commercial in February 2022 featured Nouns NFTs, and the Nouns Foundation purchased the NFT for $394,000 and gifted it to Bud Light. In April, Nouns DAO backed the crypto crowdfunding effort for the indie film "Calladita" to the tune of 6.9 ETH ($21,000), making Nouns DAO the second-largest backer of the film.
🎉 Nouns on the Small Screen
The Nouns project is releasing an animated series for adults called "The Nouners". The pilot episode, funded by the Nouns DAO, is available to watch with an NFT access pass for 0.003 ETH (less than $5). The show takes a meta approach and depicts the creation of the show and its integration with the Nouns brand.
📚 Nouns in Print
NounsDAO has announced the launch of their new NFT comic book series, "Nouns: Nountown". Each page of the comic book is an NFT, and the project is partnered with Titan Comics and the ComicsDAO community. The comic book will be launching on April 26th, and NFT holders will be able to redeem them for physical copies.
Nountown is about? "A deeply moving coming-of-age drama about a small-town thimble salesman caught up in a politically-charged espionage caper involving a stolen atom bomb, a signed picture of the Pope, and a man with a fox head."
Rich Dad. Poor Dad. Where do ya think bitcoin is going?
Robert Kiyosaki's Bold Prediction: $500,000 by 2025 🚀
The bestselling author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" is a firm believer in Bitcoin. According to Kiyosaki, a market crash and distrust in the US dollar are driving factors in Bitcoin's ascent to the moon. He suggests embracing Bitcoin, gold, and silver to weather the potential economic turmoil. Kiyosaki believes that the US dollar's supremacy is declining due to low confidence, low interest rates, and rapidly rising inflation. He considers BTC to be the only digital asset worth investing in. A little $9.5 million short of Adam Back's sweep-you-off-your-feet-launch-to-moon Bitcoin vision - $10 million by 2023 #ahem.
Failed Predictions: When Experts Got It Wrong 🥲
In 2017, John McAfee made a bet that Bitcoin would reach $500,000 by 2020, promising to eat his own penis on national TV if he was wrong (spoiler alert: it was a ruse). Calvin Ayre predicted Bitcoin's value would go to zero in 2019, but it's still going strong. Anthony "Pomp" Pompliano, Mike Novogratz, and Tom Lee also made incorrect predictions about Bitcoin's value. All of these predictions were hilariously wrong!
Pinterest wants to pin NFT play 💻
Pinterest is dipping its toes into the exciting world of web3, and they're doing it in a pretty cool way! They just filed a patent for some tech that will authenticate Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Basically, it'll check if the NFT is unique and belongs to the right person. It's interesting because Pinterest hasn't said anything about NFTs, but other social media sites are all over it. This move could help Pinterest give credit where credit is due to creators and prevent art theft with the help of blockchain technology. It makes sense since Pinterest is all about photos and art and making sure that everyone gets the recognition they deserve!
No more Binace USD on Paxos #ByOrder 🎯
The SEC has set its sights on a new target - Paxos Trust, the creators of Binance USD, a stablecoin with a market cap of over $16 billion! According to reports, the SEC is preparing to sue Paxos for violating investor protection laws, leading to a halt in the minting of BUSD and the end of its relationship with Binance.
The NYDFS has ordered Paxos to stop the issuance of BUSD, alleging that its an unregistered security. The NYDFS is closely monitoring Paxos to ensure redemptions are done smoothly, but the crypto community is in a tizzy over the situation.
The crypto community is obviously not happy. While some are brushing it off as "FUD", others are calling it an attack on the Binance exchange. Blockchain lawyers argue that holders of stablecoins can still profit through various means, even if the coin is created to have a fixed value.
While Paxos didn't mention the SEC or any potential lawsuit in its statement, it emphasized the word "regulated" six times. Meanwhile, the SEC has caused Kraken to close its staking offering with their declaration that crypto staking services violate securities law.
EU's New Rules for Crypto: Time to Get Serious 🇪🇺
The EU is proposing new rules for banks, requiring them to assign the highest possible risk rating to cryptocurrencies. Banks will need to hold an equal amount of capital as the crypto they hold until December 2024. The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision is proposing a set of new requirements, and the EU is set to adopt a legislative proposal by the end of 2024 that would transpose elements of these standards into EU law.
